Neutrophils are a type of white blood cell. They play an important role in the immune system, especially in fighting infections.
Neutrophil dysfunction is associated with chronic inflammation, making them particularly relevant for ME/CFS. In fact, some initial studies have shown that neutrophils die early and migrate slower in people with ME/CFS.
OMF’s Collaborative Center at Stanford University, directed by Dr. Ron Davis, is developing a platform to assess neutrophils in ME/CFS. To read more about the platform and preliminary findings, click here.
